Vibrant Communities
The Vibrant Communities Symposium connects those working to create healthy sustainable communities from a social, economic, environmental and cultural perspective.
With neighbourhood walkabouts, keynote speakers, panel presentations and group discussion, the Symposium is designed to encourage dialogue, within and across sectors, and discuss the challenges inherent in these guiding principles – collaboration, community involvement, informed decisions, fairness and inclusion.
Vibrant Communities Symposium 2011 will be held October 12th and 13th at Thunderbird House in Winnipeg.
Vibrant Communities are created when residents and decision makers recognize well-being is a reflection of society’s commitment to equity and justice and work toward a shared vision. Based on the guiding principles outlined in Vibrant Communities – A Plan for Action, signatories to the Vibrant Communities Charter acknowledge that well-being is determined by economic, environmental, social and cultural factors within a community. It also acknowledges that achieving this vision of Vibrant Communities will require non-government organizations, the private sector, government and community members to work together. It is now available online and can be signed by an organization or an individual.
The Healthy Living Summit brought together a range of stakeholders to develop a shared vision intended to shape the future of healthy living in Manitoba – making the healthy choice the easy choice.
Stakeholders were invited to take part in a two-day process that would result in a collective vision, mission, strategic directions and an overall strategy approach. The overall strategy approach was intended to allow for collaborative action; strengthening community action; creating supportive environments; evaluation and monitoring; and building healthy public policy.
